CARSTENSZ EXPEDITION ITINERARY
DAY 01: ARRIVAL TIMIKA
Your are expected to arrive at the airport Mosez Kilangin in the morning, and then go to hotel in TIMIKA for stay overnight. This is free time to take bed rest and recheck your equipment.
DAY 02 : TIMIKA
After breakfast, we will check your climbing equipment and our expedition manager will explain the climbing plan. You will also have a chance to have one stop shopping for your personal supplies. Please let me know our guide for further assistance. (B)
DAY 03 : TIMIKA – YELLOW VALLEY BASECAMP
By charter helicopter, we will heading fly toward to Yellow Valley basecamp (4300 m). Upon arrival at basecamp take a rest. Flying time from Timika to basecamp about 1 hour. If we depart at dawn in very clear weather, we can make 3 departure to basecamp. In the afternoon, the weather will be to hazy thus it will cut of the range visibility of pilot. Each departure only able to carry maximum 3 passengers. Acclimatization stay dome tent on base camp. (B,L,D)
DAY 04 : YELLOW VALLEY BASECAMP
We spend today getting used to acclimatize the altitude by short hiking around basecamp, climbing equipment practice and have short briefing for summit day. (B,L,D)
DAY 05 : SUMMIT DAY CARSTENSZ PYRAMID (4884 m)
Wake up at 01.30 am, have breakfast and prepare for climbing equipment. Around 2 am, start ascend to reach summit ridge . After summit day successful return to basecamp for stay overnight. Normal time summit day will takes 8 hours. (B,L,D)
DAY 06 – 07 : CONTINGENCY DAYS
DAY 08 : YELLOW VALLEY BASECAMP – TIMIKA
Today, our planning is out from basecamp, we will fly back to Timika by helicopter. Accommodation and meals will provided hotel in Timika. Recovery time and free program. (B,L,D)
DAY 09 : TIMIKA DEPARTURE
After breakfast, we will transfer your to Mosez Kilangin airport Timika. (B) END OF EXPEDITION
